Circumstances

Albert Mercer was last seen around 8.30am on 14 September 2010. He was seen running along Bonson Terrace, Moulden, NT heading towards Tamarind Road. It is suggested that he may have been running to catch a bus.  He has not been heard from or seen by family since.  Mr Mercer was wearing a red and white check shirt, green knee length shorts and silver runners with black socks; he was suffering from dementia.

Search continues for missing 71yo man

Police are seeking the public's help to find a 71-year-old man with dementia who went missing from his Palmerston home three days ago.

Police say Albert Mercer is Caucasian with white hair and beard and may appear confused.

His daughter Annabel Cheetham says she is very worried because he only recently moved to the Northern Territory.

"If anyone sees this old man, he's got dementia," she said.

"He don't know anyone here in Darwin, he's only been here a short time.

If anyone sees him can you please, please ring the police."

Missing person - Palmerston
 
NT Police are concerned for the welfare of 71-year-old Albert Mercer who has not been seen since around 8:30 am yesterday in Moulden.  
 
He was last seen on Bonson Terrace heading towards Tamarind Road and could have possibly caught a bus.  
 
Mr Mercer suffers from Dementia and is not believed to know any persons in the Northern Territory.  
 
Mr Mercer is described as a:  
• 71-year-old male  
• Approximately 175 centimetres tall  
• Approximately 60 kilograms  
• Skinny build  
• Short grey hair  
• Blue eyes – one eye is glass  
• No front teeth  
 
Was last seen wearing a red shirt, green knee length shorts and silver runners with black socks.  
 
Mr Mercer has caught buses in the past and his whereabouts is not limited to the Palmerston area.  
 
Police urge anyone that may have seen Mr Mercer, or anyone who may have information which could assist police with their enquiries to call them on 131 444.
