A navy blue and silver Esky bag containing an axe wrapped in cloth was
found in a creek near Urangan's Emerald Park Way. Police said a brick was used
to weigh the bag down. SES and water police were searching the area near the

Anthony Desmond DIXON has been missing from Hervey Bay,
Queensland since March 2015. It is unknown the circumstances
surrounding his disappearance but he has not made contact with family
members, which is very much out of character. Investigations into
Anthony’s whereabouts have failed to locate him and there are grave
concerns for his welfare and safety.
POLICE divers have found a shoe and a hat during a two day search for clues
into the whereabouts of missing Hervey Bay man Anthony Dixon.
The Queensland Police Service dive squad have been scouring the water and
mangroves in the Pulgul Creek area for clues about Mr Dixon's disappearance
in March this year.
Mr Dixon was last seen getting into a taxi at the Kondari Hotel, Urangan on
March 31.
He has not been in contact with friends or family since.
Hervey Bay police plain clothes Senior Constable Tim Visentin said the shoe
and hat would be sent for forensic testing but it was not believed the items
were linked to Mr Dixon's appearance.
"The search is being done to canvass all the areas near where he lived," Snr
Const Visentin said.
"We are still hoping he is alive."
Anyone with any information on the whereabouts of Mr Dixon should contact
Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or Police Link on 131 444.
Where is Anthony? One year on and he's still missing

IT IS the mystery which has kept the Fraser Coast guessing for the past 12
months - what happened to Anthony Dixon?
Unfortunately, one year to the day since Anthony went missing after getting a
cab from the Kondari Hotel and police are no closer to getting an answer.
The final movements police have been able to trace were Anthony being dropped
off at his Urangan home on March 31 last year.
From there, the information has dried up.
Anthony's bank accounts have not been touched, no contact has been made with
friends and family, and his home and belongings left as if he were coming back.
The lack of information surrounding the fishing trawler worker's sudden
disappearance has been hard on his family, particularly his father, Tony.
Maryborough Criminal Investigation Branch Detective Acting Senior Sergeant Mick
Polit said police were in regular contact with Anthony's family.
"They are struggling, particularly his dad," Snr Sgt Polit said.
"The not knowing means you are always hoping."
The case has stumped police officers who are once again appealing for
information from the public about Anthony's whereabouts.
"Police believe that members of the public do have information which will assist
in locating Mr Dixon and determining what has occurred to him," Snr Sgt Polit
said.
"We are obviously appealing for those persons to come forward."
In December last year, police divers scoured waterways in Urangan looking for
clues.
Divers recovered an axe, a shoe and hat but no forensic links were found to
Anthony.
