Circumstances

 Charles CYCYN arrived in Cairns Queensland from America on 14 May 1987.  He travelled from Cairns to Darwin NT arriving in early June 1987.

Charles attended Yamelba Mine located in Kakadu for the purpose of prospecting for gold. On 15 July 1987 Charles became separated from his companions while prospecting. A major search and rescue operation was undertaken without success.

Charles was described as wearing a green shirt, shorts, brown leather boots and green peaked cap. He also had around his neck a small black vinyl bag (10cm x 6cm) that contained travellerís cheques American Express, cash, his passport and some keys. He was also in possession of plastic water container, a metal detector with earphones and a small folding shovel.

Charles has not been seen or heard of since going missing and it has been confirmed he has not exited Australia.
