A distraught family are desperately calling for information about the whereabouts of their much-loved brother and son who went missing almost a month ago before his car was found abandoned near Boddington.

Daniel O’Meara was last seen about 11.30pm on March 9 when he left an address in Roleystone driving a white and silver Toyota Hilux utility.

The 45-year-old’s trailer and car were located abandoned by a member of the public south-east of Perth in Mount Wells in the Mondanocks Conservation Park on March 27.

His phone, wallet, and a Bible were left in his car, which was parked near the Bibbulmun Track.

Armadale Superintendent Mark Longman said an immediate search was conducted when the car was found, with the search escalated over the following two days.

“There was an immediate search of the area by foot and air but unfortunately Mr O’Meara was not located. The following day there was an escalated search which continued on Good Friday,” he said.

A further search was conducted in Wuramin Dwellingup State Forest near Pindalup and Hume Tank Road after a pig hunter believed he saw Mr O’Meara.

“There was another search on April 1 when there was an unconfirmed sighting of a male in bushland but that has not been fruitful,” Supt Longman said.

“Despite all the efforts of emergency services we have been unable to locate Mr O’Meara and we are now seeking any public assistance.”

His sister Tania O’Meara said the family had been left distraught since he disappeared 29 days ago.

“His birthday was March 17 so we thought he would have contacted mum and wanted to be around loved ones for his birthday but he didn’t show up so we are just really concerned,” she said.

“We just want to know he is okay and we love him.”

His father Kevin O’Meara urged anyone with information on his son’s disappearance to immediately contact the police.

“He is a fit man and has resources to look after himself but we just want to know where he is,” he said.

“He has just disappeared. Having no contact is very hard and his mum is very distraught.”

Search efforts have concluded but police are still continuing their investigation to locate Mr O’Meara.

He is described as being 183cm tall with a medium build, brown hair and blue eyes.

Anyone who has any information on Mr O’Meara’s whereabouts is urged to contact police on 131 444.

Mystery surrounds missing man

The family of missing 45-year-old father-of-four Daniel O’Meara has made a desperate plea for information, after he disappeared over a month ago.

Mr O’Meara was last seen leaving a house in Roleystone around 11.30pm on March 9, driving a white and silver Toyota Hilux utility. He told friends he was driving to his dad’s place in Manning, but he never arrived.

His sister, Tania O’Meara, said she became increasingly worried after he missed his birthday on March 17.

“HE TOLD MUM HE WANTED TO BE AROUND LOVED ONES FOR HIS BIRTHDAY. THEN HE JUST DIDN’T SHOW UP, SO WE’RE REALLY CONCERNED,” SHE SAID.

His dad, Kevin O’Meara, said the last few years had been rough on Daniel; a messy break-up had isolated him from his four children in Newcastle.

“He was under constant stress all the time, and I think this was just a way out for him,” Mr O’Meara said.

On Wednesday 27 March, Mr O’Meara’s abandoned car and trailer were spotted by a member of the public in remote bushland at the Monadnocks Conservation Park, Mount Wells, over 80km from his dad’s house.

Inside the ute was his wallet, phone, keys and a bible.

Police began an immediate search of the area, but Mr O’Meara was not found.

With the assistance of mounted units and SES volunteers, WAPOL escalated the search of the area on Thursday 28 March and Friday 29 March. And a second location was searched on Monday, 1 April.

Despite the efforts of emergency services, Mr O’Meara has still not been found.

Search efforts have officially wrapped up, but police are still continuing their enquiries to locate Mr O’Meara.

And his family hasn’t abandoned hope of finding him alive, telling local media that he knew how to handle himself in rugged bush conditions.

He is described as being 183cms tall, with a medium build, brown hair and blue eyes.

Concerns are held for his welfare, anyone who has any information on Mr O’Meara’s whereabouts is urged to contact police immediately on 131 444.

“We just want to know that he’s ok, and [tell him] that we love him,” Ms O’Meara said.
