Police are continuing to search for a man who went missing from his
Daylesford holiday home more than a week ago.
Esteban has not been seen since he left his family holiday home around
3.30am on Sunday, April 11.
Acting Sergeant Ryan Newman, from Daylesford Police Station,
said police had thrown all of their resources at the search.
Police and State Emergency Service volunteers have conducted
extensive ground searches of the Daylesford area - in
residential streets and around his property as well as
nearby bushland.
The search effort has been aided by the police air wing, dog
squad and drones.
There have been no sightings of Esteban since he went
missing.
Acting Sergeant Newman said intelligence pointed to Esteban
still being in the Daylesford area. Police are still
treating it as a missing person's case.
On Tuesday police made the decision to scale back the
operation, with the search effort now being managed at a
local level through the police station.
Esteban is well-known in the Daylesford community and Acting
Sergeant Newman encouraged people to keep an eye out for
him.
"Lots of people in the community know him," he told The
Courier. "We are heavily reliant on the eyes in the
community and urge people to come forward if they see
Esteban."
Esteban enjoys bird watching and fishing and has been known
to frequent Lake Daylesford, Cornish Hill and central
Daylesford.
In the unlikely scenario Esteban sees this article, Acting
Sergeant Newman encouraged him to make contact and said any
issues could be worked through.
Esteban had been holidaying with his wife and two children
when he disappeared. He knows the area well, having visited
it with his wife for about 14 years.
Last week, Esteban's distraught family described him as a
family man. They said his disappearance was very out of
character and that they were desperate to find him.
The family is extremely worried that he has been out in the
cold conditions for more than a week.
He has also not taken his prescribed medication since he
went missing.
"He is very well-loved by all that know him and we just want
him home," his wife told The
Courier last week.
Esteban left the home on foot. He is 182cm tall with a
medium build.
He has a chronic illness - fibromyalgia - which means he has
a sensitivity to light and sound.
The condition also causes extreme fatigue so he often needs
to take rest breaks when walking distances. He also has a
slight limp when he walks.
Esteban was last seen wearing blue jeans, a black 2XU puffer
jacket and was carrying a green satchel and tan-coloured
water bottle.
Due to his condition he also often wears glasses, a hat,
earbuds and fingerless gloves.
Anyone who sees Esteban is urged to contact Triple Zero
(000). Anyone with information about his whereabouts is
urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or log a

Police issue fresh plea two years after Esteban Do Santos's 2021 disappearance
from Daylesford
In the early hours of April 11 2021, a Melbourne man disappeared without a trace
from Daylesford.
Esteban Do Santos has not been seen since.
It's a mystery that has held loved ones and police in a vice grip, and on the
two-year anniversary of the 41-year-old's disappearance from Albert
Street, Daylesford, a fresh plea for information has been issued.
"[Mr Do Santos's loved ones are] after answers ... and we certainly want to
provide them with some sooner rather than later," Detective Sergeant Ricky
Miller from Moorabool Crime Investigation Unit said.
The Patterson Lakes man is described as 182 centimetres tall, with a medium
build and dark hair.
He was last seen at about 3.30am on Sunday, April 11, 2021, wearing blue jeans,
a black puffer jacket, and carrying a green satchel and tan water bottle.
We've conducted extensive searches and investigations ..." Sergeant Miller said.
"His
wife awoke to find Esteban had left the address they were staying at in
Daylesford, and he hasn't been sighted since.
"Much to our chagrin, and the family's, his whereabouts remain unknown at this
stage."
Immediately after Mr Do Santos went missing, police and the SES scoured nearby
bushland for any sign of him.
But the areas remain empty of any signs of the husband and father.
"What we believe is that Esteban left the address on foot. His vehicle remained
at the address," Sergeant Miller added.
"We have not been able to confirm if he used any other vehicle or if he was
taken from the address by any other services.
"He [also] has a slight limp when he walks — that's through a diagnosed medical
condition... we believe he would've only been able to go a certain distance
before he either would've needed rest or would have returned home."
Police have released images of distinctive rings Mr Do Santos was wearing when
he disappeared in an attempt to jog any potential witnesses to a memory.
"We believe that those rings are fairly distinctive..."
"There are photos on [Victoria Police's] website if they can have a look at that
and see if that jogs their memory from 2021."
Anyone with any information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers at 1800 333 000.
