Tennant Creek police fear for missing man
Tennant Creek police say they are concerned for the welfare of a 60-year-old man
who is suffering from dementia and has gone missing north of the town.
Superintendent Colin Smith says ground and air searches are under way for the
man, who lives at a camp site near Attack Creek about 70 kilometres north of
Tennant Creek.
The man has not been seen since leaving the camp to shut a gate about 9:00pm
ACST on Saturday.
Superintendent Smith says he is hoping the public may have seen the Caucasian
man who has a Czech accent.
"He does have a history of wandering off and that's why we're sort of hoping
that he may have wandered onto the highway and possibly caught a lift with a
passing member of the public ... we're certainly making a lot of inquiries
following that avenue up," he said.
