Missing man sought by NSW police — Kingswood

Thursday, 18 Dec 2008 05:36am

Police from Penrith Local Area Command have appealed to the public for information about a man missing from his Kingswood home for a month.

On Wednesday 19 November, 32-year-old Martin Erasmus was seen leaving Kingswood TAFE on the Great Western Highway.

His disappearance was reported to police the following day when relatives became concerned that they could not locate or contact him.

Detective Inspector Grant Healey from Penrith Police said investigators and family are extremely concerned for his welfare as the absence is completely out of character.

“We know that Martin has not accessed his bank accounts and many of his friends have attempted to locate him without success.

“A ‘Facebook’ page has been constructed by his friends in an attempt to locate him and many others took part in a reconstruction walk of Martin’s last known movements on Monday of this week.

“A check of computer records shows that Martin was examining train timetables into the city, prior to his disappearance, most probably to Bondi Junction,” Detective Inspector Healey said.

Martin Erasmus is described as being of white/European appearance, about 183cm tall, with a slim athletic build. He has a shaven head, fair complexion and blue eyes.

When last seen, he was believed to be wearing a lime green coloured tradesman’s shirt, dark pants and black joggers.

Anyone with information about his present whereabouts is urged to contact Penrith Police on 02 4721 9444 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

Police seek public assistance to locate man missing from Penrith area for past six months

2009-06-02 14:07:58

Police in Sydney's west have renewed their appeal for public assistance to locate a man missing from the Penrith area in the past six months.
Martin Erasmus, 32, was last seen near the Kingswood TAFE campus about 4.30pm on Wednesday 19 November last year.
Mr Erasmus had been receiving tutoring at the campus as part of an apprenticeship.
Police from Penrith Local Area Command have conducted exhaustive inquiries in an attempt to locate Mr Erasmus; however, they have so far proven unsuccessful.
A page on the social networking website, Facebook, was established by Mr Erasmus' relatives and friends shortly after his disappearance but has so far failed to provide any information relating to his current whereabouts.
Police and Mr Erasmus' family hold serious concerns for his wellbeing as his disappearance is considered out of character.
Mr Erasmus' sister, Anna Erasmus, has appealed for public assistance to locate him.
"We are increasingly worried that six months has passed and we have not seen or heard from Martin," Ms Erasmus said. "All we want to know is that Martin is okay. He is due to turn 33 on 30 June and that will be an especially tough time for us all."
"Not knowing where Martin is and whether or not he is okay has caused his family and friends a lot of heartache and stress," she said. "Not knowing is the hardest thing - that's why we are asking anyone who has seen Martin or knows his current whereabouts to come forward."
Anyone who has any information that might assist the police investigation is urged to contact Penrith Police Station via Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

Hunt for Martin steps up

20 Dec 08 @ 08:00am

FAMILY and friends of missing Penrith man Martin Erasmus are stepping up their campaign in the hope of finding him soon.

Martin, 32, was reported missing to Penrith police on November 20 at 6.30pm, having last been seen at the Kingswood TAFE the previous evening.

“We are still pursuing a number of inquiries and have issued a statewide alert for Martin,” Det-Sgt John McGee told the Press.

“We have been making inquiries at railway stations but no one has seen him.”

Martin’s distraught sister Anna and mother are using a wide network of family and friends to locate him.

“Martin is a quiet guy who loved his music and martial arts,” Anna said. “For him to disappear like this is very unusual, as he is very reliable.

“We are a close family and keep in touch regularly, which is why we cannot believe he will just leave without telling us.”

The tall and muscular Martin was doing an apprenticeship in light metal fabrication and working for a Penrith company.

“It was the company which called mum and told us that Martin hadn’t come to work and wondered where he was,” Anna said.

“We hope he will be found soon, as he has not used his bank account and doesn’t have a mobile phone or driving licence.”

Martin, who had no history of depression, had, however, confided to one of his friends that he was feeling sad days before his disappearance.

“We don’t know whether he was depressed as he never said anything to us and was punctual about everything, including his rents,” Anna said.

Friends of Martin are putting up posters around Penrith and have also begun a Facebook group called “Have you seen Martin Erasmus?”

Anyone with information can contact Penrith police on 4721 9543.
