Searches for missing teen Jacob Partridge and lost bushwalker Csaba Varga continue in NSW

The quiet surf village of Emerald Beach has been the focus of a major search for resident Jacob Partridge, 17, who was last seen on the beach on Friday at 11pm.

SES crews were out on quad bikes and on foot on Monday in bushland and sand dunes and a Police Marine Command rescue boat patrolled close to the shore.

Polair, RFS helicopters and Surf Life Saving NSW drones added an aerial view, but so far no sign of Jacob has been detected.

Coffs-Clarence Police Acting Inspector Nick Dixon said the plan was to continue searching for until last light on Monday and review operations on Tuesday.

"We are concentrating on a number of possibilities with regards to Jacob and we are concentrating on bringing Jacob home to his family, supporting the family and, indeed, the community," he said.

Kim Satchell was among members of the Emerald Beach community who turned out to help on the weekend.

"On Saturday afternoon people came out to see what they could do, walking around the headlands and through the bush," he said.

"People were really concerned about the boy's welfare and now we are really concerned about the family."

Keryl Michener said the response showed how tight-knit the community was.

"I don't personally know the family, but nearly everybody I know seems to know them or has a child that knows the young fellow," she said.

"So you just hope and pray for a miracle."

The mother of a Mid-North Coast teenager missing for more than two weeks has aired her heartbreak as she holds onto hope her son will return home for Christmas.

Jacob Partridge was last seen at about 11pm on December 6 at Emerald Beach, some 20km north of Coffs Harbour.

And despite a five-day extensive land, air and marine search – suspended on December 11 – there has been no sign of the then 17 year old.

Police said on Tuesday the investigation remains ongoing, and that officers were “regularly liaising with the family”.

Last week, Jacob’s grief-stricken mother Liza took to social media on Jacob’s 18th birthday.

“Happy 18th Jacob. You’re missing out on cake, presents and a beer at the pub,” she wrote on Facebook.

On Monday morning, she posted a photo with the caption: “In memory of all the loved ones who cannot be with us this holiday season.”

The young man’s disappearance has caused a widespread outpouring of heartache in the community, with a family friend saying they “wish Jacob would walk through the front door this Christmas”.

Melanie Richmond added: “Please if you have seen Jacob. This is my friend’s son. We would love to bring him home for Christmas.”

Kell Woods wrote: “I think of you every day, multiple times a day. My heart is breaking for you. I hope you get the best Christmas present ever and your baby comes home to you. Lots of love.”

Kylie Black added: “Please come home. Your family’s hearts are shattered. They all love you so much and just want you safe.”

Coffs-Clarence Police Acting Inspector Nick Dixon said Jacob and his family were “respected members of the community” and the tight-knit community were rallying around Jacob’s “completely broken-hearted family”.

Anyone with information is urged to contact Coffs Harbour Police or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

Community continues search for missing teen Jacob Partridge

MORE than a month after his disappearance, the parents of 18-year-old Jacob Partridge are “still out searching every day” for their son in bushland around Emerald Beach.

Jacob, aged 17 at the time, was last seen by friends at about 11pm near Emerald Beach – 20km north of Coffs Harbour – on Friday 6 December 2024.

When he could not be located or contacted, officers attached to Coffs/Clarence Police District were notified and an investigation commenced into his whereabouts.

A multi-agency coordinated land and sea search began on Saturday 7 December and continued in daylight hours until it was suspended on the afternoon of Tuesday 10 December.

Since Jacob’s disappearance, community members have turned out in numbers to scour local bushland areas, with another large-scale search planned for Saturday, 18 January.

Jacob’s mother, Liza, has also taken to tying care packages of food and water to trees in the bush in case her son might come across them.

“We are just going to keep doing these regular searches until we find something,” Liza told News Of The Area.

Details of upcoming searches can be found on the “Find Jacob Partridge” Facebook page.

“I’ll put up an event every time for it when we have organised mapping areas,” Liza said.

“We got to the point last time when we sort of exhausted the areas around Emerald Beach, so we are looking at branching out from there to other areas.”

Investigators are seeking to speak with anyone who might have seen Jacob in Emerald Beach from 8pm on Saturday 7 December.

Anyone with information, CCTV or dashcam that might assist police, is urged to contact Coffs Harbour Detectives or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

Jacob is described as being of Caucasian appearance, about 175cm tall, of medium build, with long brown hair.
