
Mark Heffernan is a 62-year-old male from Croydon Victoria. Mark has significant mental health challenges and has suffered some recent hardships.
On 16 August 2025, at approximately 10:30am Mark left his home in Croydon on foot with the intention of walking to Woods Point, Victoria. Mark was wearing a light grey/dark blue jacket, white tracksuit pants and black sneakers.
At around 10:30pm the same day, Mark was observed walking into a camp site at Frenchmans Creek Campground, he was wearing the same clothes and carrying a large plastic blue, white and red duffel bag. Mark discussed his current life hardships and disclosed his intention to the campers, to walk Frenchmans Track to Woods Point. At approximately 8:30am on 17 August, Mark walked towards Frenchmans Creek Track in the Woods Point direction on foot, Mark has not been seen since.
Mark appeared under-equipped to sustain several days and nights walking through bushland with inclement weather and rugged terrain.
A large scale, multiple agency search was conducted of the Woods Point area with emphasis on either side of Frenchmans Track. During the search, Mark’s duffel bag was located along with a half-eaten pack of biscuits at the intersection of Camp Track and Frenchmans Spur Track. Unfortunately, Mark was unable to be located during the search.
