Search for missing man

Police are appealing for public assistance in their search for a man who has gone missing in the Attack Creek area about 80 kilometres north of Tennant Creek.

The alarm was raised after a truck driver reported seeing a Toyota Camry parked in a truck parking bay off the Stuart Highway last Saturday. The driver became concerned when it was still there two days later on his return trip.

Police and NT Emergency Service volunteers began combing the area after finding the car keys had been left in the ignition. The missing man is believed to be Brett McGillivray, 26, from Western Australia.

The man is believed to have travelled from Alice Springs about 15 April in his white Toyota Camry sedan with Western Australian registration. He is described as being Caucasian, 175cm tall, 120 kgs, solid build, blue eyes with short dark hair and possible facial hair.

He was last seen wearing dirty blue jeans, blue runners and no shirt.

Police are appealing to anyone who may have given the man a lift along the Stuart Highway in the area of the abandoned car to come forward.

Police have released a photo of the missing man in the hope of gaining information from the public.

NT POLICE are appealing for public assistance in their search for a man who went missing in remote scrubland.

A Toyota Camry was found parked parked off the Stuart Highway about 80km north of Tennant Creek last Saturday.

The missing man is believed to be West Australian Brett McGillivray, 26, and anyone with information is urged to contact police on 131 444.

Police fail to find man missing in NT

Northern Territory police will decide this morning whether to scale back their search for a missing West Australian man who disappeared from a roadside stop north of Tennant Creek.

A truck driver first noticed 26-year-old Brett McGillivray's car parked at the Attack Creek roadside stop a week ago.

He reported it to police days later, after realising on his return trip that the car was still there.

The keys were still in the ignition.

Air and ground searches in the area have failed to find Mr McGillivray.

He was last wearing dirty blue jeans, blue runners and no shirt and is described as being 175 centimetres tall, with a solid build, blue eyes and short dark hair.

Big search launched for missing WA man

Northern Territory police are using helicopters and ground searches to try to find a West Australian man missing near Tennant Creek.

Police have set up a command station near Attack Creek, 80 kilometres north of Tennant Creek, which is where Brett McGillivray's car was found.

A truck driver first spotted the white sedan, which had West Australian plates, in a truck bay off the Stuart highway last Saturday.

The driver contacted police after noticing the car was still there with the keys in the ignition, two days later.

Police think Mr McGillivray drove from Alice Springs two weeks ago.

He was last seen wearing dirty blue jeans, blue runners and no shirt and is described as being 175 centimetres tall, with a solid build, blue eyes and short dark hair.

Police have asked anyone who may have given Mr McGillivray a lift along the Stuart highway to contact them.

A search for a Western Australian man who went missing in the Attack Creek area north of Tennant Creek has been scaled down.

Police and NTES volunteers began a ground and air search after the man's Toyota Camry was found abandoned in a truck parking bay off the Stuart Highway approximately 80 kilometres north of Tennant Creek The alarm was raised after a truck driver noticed the vehicle parked in the parking bay on Saturday 22 April and then became concerned when it was still there on his return trip a few days later.

The missing man is Brett McGillivray aged 26.

He is described as being Caucasian, 175cm tall, 120 kgs, solid build, blue eyes and short dark hair and possibly facial hair. He was last seen wearing dirty blue jeans, blue runners and no shirt.
