South Australian Police have expanded their search for "high-risk missing person" Patricia Ewens, who has not been seen for almost three weeks.
Police said the 73-year-old woman travelled from Port Pirie to the Adelaide Central Markets on Wednesday, February 18, and they today revealed she was sighted in the Brighton area, in Adelaide's south-western suburbs, the following day.
Today, mounted police, STAR and uniformed officers scoured the beachside suburb for CCTV after issuing a public appeal for the missing woman on Friday.
Detective Chief Inspector Amanda Lewis said police received information that Ms Ewens was last seen heading north on the Esplanade at North Brighton on the evening of Thursday, February 19.
"What I can say is Patricia was sighted by members of the public earlier in the evening on February 19 at the Brighton Caravan Park, the Seacliff Surf Club and the Brighton Surf Club," she said.
"All I can say is that she seems in good health.
"I don't have any information as to why she was in the Brighton area at this stage, which is why I'm seeking public assistance from anyone who may know her to provide information to police."
Police previously said Ms Ewens boarded a Stateliner bus to Adelaide and was last spotted on CCTV on Grote Street in the CBD around 1pm on February 18.
Detective Chief Inspector Lewis said a member of the public found Ms Ewens's personal belongings on a footpath on Gladstone Road at North Brighton on February 19, and handed them in to police.
"It was her purse and the black bag that says 'I love Salvos' on it, and inside her purse were cards and a small amount of cash," she said.
Police previously said that at the time of her disappearance, Ms Ewens was wearing black boots, black pants, a black puffer jacket and was carrying a large black bag.
She is described as Caucasian, of slim build, with shoulder-length grey hair.
Detective Chief Inspector Lewis said police "still do not suspect" foul play in Ms Ewens's disappearance but continued to hold concerns.
"We are still treating her as a high-risk missing person, and our concerns lie around the fact that she is 73 years of age and she has been missing for some time without contacting family," she said.
"It is out of character to be away this long. She is known to have come to Adelaide, to the Central Markets, but generally does return on the same day."
She said police had been making enquiries but had no information to suggest Ms Ewens got on any public transport.
"She does walk and can cover a fair distance, so we are still looking into those enquiries," she said.
Detective Chief Inspector Lewis asked anyone who had information that may help police find Ms Ewens to contact Crime Stoppers online at www.crimestopperssa.com.au or call 1800 333 000.
