Poe Lay was reported missing 20.11.2008 after leaving family home in Darwin. No contact has been made with his family since this time.

 

Burmese refugee missing in Darwin

Northern Territory Police say there have been a number of possible sightings of a Burmese refugee, missing in Darwin's northern suburbs.

Police say 52-year-old Poe Lay did not return home on Thursday and his disappearance is out of character.

Officers have searched the Casuarina area and have combed bushland in Rapid Creek to find him.

Superintendent Dean Moloney says Mr Poe is around 150 centimetres tall and was last seen wearing denim shorts and thongs.

"We've received a number of calls of possible sightings in the Casuarina area, but each time police have been there to be able to check him out he has moved on," he said.

Superintendent Moloney says the man's disappearance is not being treated as suspicious at this stage.

Police in Darwin are concerned for the welfare of a man who has not been seen since yesterday.

It is believed 52-year-old Burmese man Poe Lay often visits the Casuarina shopping centre and the Rapid Creek area.

He is 150 centimetres tall, has black hair, brown eyes and an olive complexion.

Anyone who knows where he is should call police.

Concern for welfare - update
 
NT Police are still concerned for the welfare of a Burmese man who suffers from a medical condition and has not been seen or heard from by his family since 20 November 2008.  
 
It has now been five days since Mr Lay’s disappearance and no further leads have come to light. A more recent photograph of the missing man has been obtained and police would like Mr Lay, or anyone who may have seen him, to contact police immediately on 131 444.  
 
Mr Poe Lay, aged 52, may frequent Casuarina Shopping Square and the Rapid Creek area.  
 
He is described as:  
 
Approximately 150 cm tall  
51 kilograms  
Skinny build  
Brown eyes  
Olive complexion  
Black hair  
Usually wears short denim shorts, dark short sleeved polo shirts and thongs  
 
Anyone with information about Mr Lay’s whereabouts is urged to call police so they can ascertain that he is safe and well.

Police, community and family are still concerned for a Burmese man who has not been seen since Thursday November 20.  Poe Lay is 52 years old, about 150cm tall with a skinny build, brown eyes, olive complexion and black hair.
